Renzo Gracie is a name synonymous with excellence, legacy, and innovation in martial arts. A 6th-degree Jiu-Jitsu black belt from the illustrious Gracie family, Renzo was born on March 11, 1967, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The grandson of Carlos Gracie, the founder of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, and son of 9th-degree BJJ Red Belt Robson Gracie, Renzo's journey in Jiu-Jitsu began as an infant under the guidance of legendary family instructors, including Rolls Gracie.
Renzo's illustrious competitive career includes numerous victories, highlighted by his status as a 3x Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Champion. Beyond the mat, he has fought for iconic organizations like the UFC and Pride Fighting Championships, showcasing the effectiveness of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to a global audience.
In the 1990s, Renzo pioneered the spread of BJJ in the United States by founding the renowned Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City, which has become a cornerstone of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in America. Today, with over 70 active affiliates worldwide, Renzo’s influence on the sport is unparalleled.
Renzo is not only a master practitioner but also a world-class instructor and mentor. His unique combination of charisma, intelligence, and passion has guided some of the sport's greatest champions, including UFC legends Matt Serra and Frankie Edgar, 10x Jiu-Jitsu World Champion Roger Gracie, and John Danaher, the coach to UFC Champions Georges St-Pierre and Chris Weidman as well as ADCC Champion Gordon Ryan.
